busy sunday

today was a very busy day. we started the day hanging out on s congress with my cousins victoria and abi and aunt mary. they were so much fun. plus the morning was awesome and we were able to explore the san jose hotel, which was beautiful...or so everyone kept saying. here are some of the pics mommy took:

my cousin dax was baptized today as well. i got to wear my most pretty dress. it was touch and go for a while there. i did not like the dress at first and was headed for a major melt down. but mommy convinced me that i looked way to pretty to cry and it was all smiles from there. dax did great during the baptism. i only heard him get fussy once. i was more upset than he was and i didn't even have oil poured on my head. it was a fun evening of flirting and smiling.

 

sling

my mom has a sling she will periodically carry me around in. it's super convenient and i get all kinds of compliments when i ride in it. aunt karen got it for us. mom was able to pick out the fabric herself so that it fit her personality. she really liked the owls because it reminded her of a shirt of pair of pants she wore as a kid. now i'm no judge of fashion...being only 4 months old, but owls on shirts and pants? makes me wonder what i'm going to be saying when i look at all the pictures mom's taking of me. will i question the style of the day? will i say "mom, what were you thinking?" only time will tell. i'm sure she will say something like "you were always wearing the cutest of the current fashion." that's how grammy justifies what mommy, aunt jenny and shawna wore when they were kids. regardless I look pretty cute and happy in my sling.

thumb sucking

 

so as it turns out i am a thumb sucker. mommy was going to try to prevent me from becoming one but once she saw the advantages it wasn't too hard to convince her that this was one of the battle she was going to have to pick not to pursue. especially once she realized how well i take my nap. no more running up and down the stairs to give me back my pacifier. we both like less tears at nap time. plus its just so cute.

this is my dad. we were visiting my new friend elise last night when mommy got this photo. he love's me lots and tells me how much all the time. this is one of mommy's favorite photos so far.

baby bennett

today my friend bennett came over to hang out while his mommy ran an errand. he showed me how to use my high chair, which is a good thing 'cause dr jolet said i can start eating solids in about a month. we also played with some of my toys and he brought some funs stuff over too. i was a little out of sorts due to my shots, but i think i was still able to be a good host.

4 month check up

today was my 4 month check up with dr jolet. we love her. mommy and daddy always leave my appointments feeling like they are the best parents on earth. she's so encouraging. i'm really glad she was the doctor on call when i was born otherwise i'd have a different doctor. i rocked this appointment hard. i've met all my milestones...keep in mind i was 4 weeks early so should be tracking 4 weeks late. but i'm not, i'm right up there with the other "term" babies. so here are my stats:

11 pounds 8 ounces which is the 10th percentile

22 1/2 inches long, 5th percentile

the circumference of my head is 41 1/2 centimeters, 50th percentile. i've got a big brain which is why i'm right up there with the other babies.

i had to have 3 shots today and as you can see i never saw them coming. mommy tried to explain what was about to happen but i was just too happy to listen. i cried and cried while the nurse was giving them to me. next time i'll know.

when we got home i was so tired from all the crying. i did get a sticker though 'cause i didn't cry too long. 

it's been 3 hours since my appointment. i'm pretty happy...kicking my legs and talking. none the worst for wear. hopefully this means business as usual tonight.

mommy caught me playing with my feet after my morning nap today. i like to grab them and soon i'll be chewing on them like i do my fingers.

 

4 months old

today i turned 4 months old. not much to report on it really. just wanted to mark the occasion. i'll have a lot more to say on tuesday after my doctor appointment. i get more shots...not looking forward to it.

roll'n over and other firsts

today mommy is so proud of me. we were having our usual belly time when all of a sudden i rolled over. oh you should have seen how she reacted. first of all i was confused 'cause one second i'm look'n at the floor and the next it's all ceiling! then with mommy hooping and hollering and carrying on about it....to tell you the truth i was pretty proud of my self too.

i've also got some sniffles and a cough today. the first "cold" front of the year is moving in...which as we all know means less humidity...at least that's what mommy says. but that's neither here nor there. it's probably just my first bout with allergies but mommys going to be watching me pretty close today to make sure it's not my first cold. 

it's been a big day and it's only 9:00 am!

dinner with grandma

last night my grandma came over for dinner. she's so much fun 'cause she talks to me in a sing song voice that makes me so happy. she knows all kinds of songs as well....which she sings to me. i love my grandma. 

my friend bow

i've started to explore with my mouth. i love the different textures on my tongue. this is my friend bow... named for his rainbow mane. his fur tickles my tongue and his plastic paws are nice and cool. to tell you the truth i was a little leary of his paws at first. i'd never felt anything like it before. but now i like the fun textures...each paw is different. i think bow and i are going to be long time friends.

play'n with dax man

today my cousin dax came over to play. turns out even though he's five weeks younger than me he's already taller. aunt karen called uncle duane to let him know. he was super excited and said dax was going to be 6/6. that's taller than my daddy. i said no way. no one's taller than my daddy. i had lots of fun playing with dax and was sad he was gone when i woke up from my nap.

today was labor day and despite the rain mommy thought it'd be a good idea to take a family photo. i bet you think i'm about to crawl over daddy's leg. gotcha fooled though..'cause i don't even know how to do that yet. i'm smart but not that smart...yet. scootching is more my style. i like to push with my feet when mommy or daddy are changing my diaper. i'm going to get around one way or another. i also figure out how to grab my blanky and put it in my mouth today. i guess fingers are used for more than chewing on. mommy thinks my slobbery mitts are the greatest thing in the world but i've got other plans for them.

hook'm horns and snoring

last night i went to my very first longhorn game party. the night started off pretty rough 'cause my daddy got really excited during on of the plays and yelled really loud. it scared me so bad that i had no choice but to tell him about it for the next 5 or 10 minutes. needless to say there were tears involved. but the longhorns went on to win the game by playing very badly. i hope this isn't a sign of things to come. i'd like my first football season to be a memorable one. and not by it being the worst season ever.

i let mommy and daddy go to church this morning, decided that it be a good time to take my nap. i'm so embarrassed though, i started to snore. daddy said it was the cutest thing ever...but i think he has to say that 'cause he's my daddy. we also had lunch today with my friends jaden and robbie. boy's are messy. but funny to watch. am i boy crazy already??
