engineer or mad scientist??

mommy is convinced i'm going to follow in daddy's footsteps and be and engineer or something mechanically inclined. grandma said she had to give him a bowling ball to play with as a kid 'cause it was the only thing he couldn't take apart. i like to see how things work too as you can see from this video mommy took.

or, i could just end up being a mad scientist based on the hair. i think it could go either way at this point.

hi

mommy was able to get a video of me saying hi this morning. it was totally unexpected. all she was trying to get was some footage of us together. so i decided to pull out the big guns and give her something special.

head and shoulders, knees and toes...

mommy has been teaching me about my different body parts. i know my head, ears, eyes, nose and feet. we're working on knees. i usually end up poking myself in they eye and my finder always ends up in my nose. mommy and daddy have been working on that one 'cause it's not very lady like.

my head

my ears

my nose...just aweful

my mouth

here are my toes

my belly

and mommy's belly

my vocabulary is also expanding. here's a list of my words:

dog
light
shoes
keys
milk & water
crackers
eat
bye-bye
hi

granted only those who are around me a lot are able to understand many of those words but at least mommy does and i can start communicating my needs to her.

wow! that was a lot of blogging. sorry to bombard you with three post in one day.

camcorder

mommy finally decided to buy a camcorder to capture all the cute things i do. she got a flip. which is a great little camera that will store 60 minutes of video on a flash memory so there are no tapes involved. just plug it into a usb port and get started. plus the camera is super small, which she loves. this is a video she took of me this morning eating my eggs with a fork. so look forward to seeing me in action on my blog this year.

visit to the dentist

i had my first visit to the dentist today. don't let the photos fool you, i was not happy about the visit. for starters i'm not feeling very good as i have a cold. second, i do not like people poking around in my mouth. but, it had to be done. dr babot said my teeth are ahead of schedule. my bicuspids are getting ready to poke through and those done usually show up till around two. i'll have 16 teeth then. she said all is good except for the defect in my enamel, which we already knew about. and to make sure it gets brushed really well. good luck after today. despite the crying mommy and i really like dr babot and her higentists.

my most favorite book right now is moo baa la la la by sandra boynton. i have mommy read it to me over and over and over. at least 20 times a day. i call the book la la. i carry it over to her and shove myself into her lap and never get tired of hearing about the cows, duck, rinos and dogs and the sounds they make. the very last page says "it's quiet now, what to you say" and upon hearing mommy read those words i point to myself. mommy was really excited the day she saw me do it. oh, some other cute things i've learned recently is the sound a crocodille makes when chomping and the sound elephants make. i'm not going to be modest, it's pretty cute.

zilker park

since it's been unseasonably awesome outside we met one of our playgroups at zilker park yesterday. i have to admit it was pretty overwhelming. the play scape is WAY bigger than anything i've played on and there were so many kids playing. all i could do was stand and stare. finally mom nudged me and i got the courage to go do some exploring. i played with rock and climbed and went down the slides. the slides there are really fast so if there wasn't someone at the bottom to catch me i shot right off of it. mommy was able to get a short video of me going down the tube slide.

today is grammy's birthday. mommy and i took her to breakfast at kerby lane for eggs and pancakes. happy birthday grammy!!

austin childrens museum

mommy and i went to the austin children's museum today with aunt karen, dax, mrs kristen and connor. the day started out pretty much like any other. we got up, ate breakfast and mommy changed my diaper. she put me in my crib so that she could get ready. when she came back you can imagin her surprise to find me naked. i'd finally figured out how to get my diaper off...and of course it wasn't empty...we wont go into details but you get the point. needless to say i wont be sleeping in just my diaper anymore.

the museum was great. they have a bunch of rooms with various activities. i played in the "little" kids area for a while on the slide. then we played in the restaurant. after that was music time, which was loads of fun. especially when mommy finally let me go into the circle to dance. then it was off to the austin city limits room where they have tv's with music playing. on this day it was yodeling. there were so many other rooms and a whole other level we didn't get to explore. all the more reason to go back. we went to joe's for lunch. a great burger/sandwich place on second and lavaca. the atmospher was cool and totally austin. it was the best day. oh and i don't want to forget to mention the AWESOME fall like weather. what a great day to be downtown.

black beans and avacado

for dinner tonight it was black beans and avacado. so tasty and messy. my food likes seem to be growing. i've added cantaloupe and grapes to my diet but am still very suspicious of all veggies. mommy and daddy decided to take a vacation from trying to get me to eat foods other than bread and cheese, since meal time was not fun anymore. they're looking rested now that it's thursday. mommy went to the supermarket today and i can see that look in her eye. my vacation is coming to an end too. veggies will be back on my plate soon enough.

oh! i don't want to forget to tell you about my new shoes. they're fuchsia corduroy tennies. pink shoes are the best. not only are the super cute but i have a feeling they enhance ones ability to climb up slides. it's a skill i've been trying to master for the last couple weeks. i know it can be done. i've seen kids do it. i'm coming for you slide!

eating and playing

mommy and i had lunch today at the galaxy cafe. it's one of our favorite places to eat. i had a cheesy quesadilla with fruit on the side. mommy gave me a fork to play with and it wasn't long before i was trying to use it to eat my lunch. she gave me a few pointers and in no time i was eating all by myself....an amazing amount of food by the way.

after that we went to check out the park in circle c. wow! its a great park with shade all day long from big old trees. as soon as we got there two little girls, emma and addison, came running over and adopted me. they helped me down the slides and climbing the stairs. they were so fun. plus they were older girls which i LOVE to play with. i also met a little boy named kenneth who is the same age as me. we slid down the big toob slide and ran all over the place. one cool thing to note is that i went down the slides all by myself. mommy didn't have to hold my hand at all.
